Irish Wolfhounds are noble animals; gentle giants, whose basic nature is that of your typical "couch potato". They love their comfort as much as you do. They make perfect "nannies" for your children and have the patience of a saint. Nevertheless, ownership of such a large dog brings plenty of responsibilities, as well as immense pleasures - as we were soon to find out.

The Irish Wolfhound is actually the tallest hound in the entire world and they are a stately and proud dog. Their coats feel rather rough to the touch, and they come in a variety of different colors, including brindle, pure white, red, brown, black, gray, and fawn.

Wookie is waiting for us over the Rainbow Bridge, so alas, he cannot partake of marrow bone anymore, and Kelsie, poor, smelly old thing, has hardly any teeth left and her bone eating days are long gone.

One thing that is amazing about owning a Kerry Blue Terrier as a pet is that this breed is adaptable to every situation. It can be a hardworking hunting dog, a vigilant watchdog, or a champion in a dog show. People who are blessed to have a Kerry Blue Terrier even say that once you are a Kerry lover, you are forever a Kerry lover. That's just how we all feel about our terriers!

The male Irish Wolfhounds grow up to an average height of 33 to 36 inches (or almost three feet at shoulder) while the tallest dogs can tower up to 3.3 feet (over 1 meter). Their female counterparts, on the other hand, can grow up to an average height of 29 to 34 inches or typically one to three inches shorter than the makes. If you measure them from the edge of the snout down to the tail, they can be almost two meters or 6.6 feet.
